The game is a World War 1 aerial shooter, offering 36 single player mission and 8 player online battles.

Find more playstation news and downloads on psreactor.net

EA launches new Dead Space promo site

EA's Dead Space is on a direct collision course with the updated, revamped PS3 version of Bioshock. It'll make for an interesting clash - Dead Space is still looking increasingly like a spiritual successor to System Shock 2, and Bioshock is the spiritual successor to System Shock 2.

Find more playstation news and downloads on psreactor.net

The Last Guy, Coming To a City Near You

Hello, PS.blog readers! At the end of July, we announced the game The Last Guy for North America, and said there would be much more about the game in the coming weeks. Since then, I hope you’ve checked out the trailers that have been released, the special “interview” with the guys in the Himalayas, and the just-posted IGN review.

If you haven’t heard of The Last Guy yet, here’s the run-down. Every stage is a real city, shown from overhead using detailed aerial photography. Basically you make your way through cities, find people hiding in buildings, and lead them to the Escape Zone while avoiding zombies roaming the streets. Use thermography vision to find people hiding in buildings, “dash” to run away quicker, and “huddle” to scrunch up the line to keep the people out of the path of the zombies. The controls are simple, but keeping your line away from the zombies and making it to the Escape Zone without losing anyone is anything but.

We released the demo last week, giving a taste of half of the Asakusa, Tokyo stage, one of the many stages in The Last Guy. I hope you’ve had a chance to check it out. If you’re anything like me, you probably have that song stuck in your head too.

Well, I’m back here on the blog today because I’m here to announce that the full North American release of The Last Guy will be hitting the North American PlayStation Store tomorrow afternoon for $9.99! And you can purchase the game from the PlayStation Store, or from right inside the demo itself. How handy is that?

With the full game, you’ll get to experience the full Asakusa stage from the demo, plus a bunch of other exciting cities from around the world, with 15 stages in all. Of course there’s London and Los Angeles, which we originally mentioned. And in the latest trailer below you can see cities like Washington, D.C., Sydney, Berlin, and Chinatown in Yokohama, Japan. There are lots of other great cities waiting to be saved by you in the full game, plus a bunch of different kinds of zombies and boss zombies for you to outwit and out-maneuver. You’ll definitely have to use the power-ups scattered throughout each stage wisely to make it through each of the 15 stages.

Here are a few cool screenshots from some of the new cities, Berlin and San Francisco.

So you have until tomorrow afternoon to practice with the demo to perfect your line-leading zombie-avoiding skills, thermography powers, building-encircling technique, and Stamina gauge management. Because the levels in the full game are much more challenging, and even feature online rankings and different ratings for how well you do (like how many VIPs you find and rescue). Who knows, maybe something cool will happen if you get a good “clear” rating on all the levels…

By the way, there will be a couple of cool The Last Guy wallpapers on the store tomorrow as well. Hope you like ‘em!

Let me know what you think of the demo, and the full game when it comes out tomorrow. Thanks!

The cynic in me sometimes reckons that this has a lot to do with Sony's peculiar tendency to always keep the Next Big Thing somewhere way over the horizon and never actually dancing in your lap. Anyway, here's one mystery solved and exposed - Savage Moon was once a game steeped intrigue and has now been unveiled in all its, err, glory over at the PlayStation blog.

Find more playstation news and downloads on psreactor.net

First is Max Payne 3. It has been regularly heard on the grapevine that something new from the Max Payne franchise was on its way and the fact that a movie of the game is coming out soon only makes it all the more logical that there should be another sequel.

Find more playstation news and downloads on psreactor.net

In just 3 days, the gaming hordes will descend upon Seattle for the 5th annual Penny Arcade Expo. This year’s event, like every PAX to date, will be larger than the one before it. So to survive among your 40,000+ fellow attendees during the 17-hour Saturday, you’re going to need… caffeine and sugar.

That’s where we come in, dear PlayStation.Blog reader. From 8:30-10:30am on Saturday, August 30th, we’ll be camped out at the nearby Top Pot Doughnuts (5th Ave location). We’ve got the 2nd floor of this Seattle standard locked down for PlayStation fans, and the coffee and donuts will be flowing freely. That’s meant both figuratively and literally - we’re picking up the tab. As those who attended our last meet-up can attest, there’ll be more than just free food; we’ll be handing out swag and running another competition - so make sure to charge up your PSP.

We’d love to meet you, and we’ll still get you out the door and on your way for a full day of PAXness (the doors open at 10am). If you’d like to attend, please RSVP on our Facebook event page or, if you don’t have Facebook (for shame!), please feel free to drop us a line here.

Savage Moon – Coming this Fall to PSN

Since July there have been rumors about a “mystery game that SCEA had up its sleeve.” Well, it’s time to put all that speculation to rest. I am pleased to announce that we will be adding yet another exciting downloadable PS3 title to the PSN lineup: Savage Moon.

Coming exclusively to PLAYSTATION Network this fall, Savage Moon is a frantic, action-packed tower defense game in a gritty sci-fi setting. You are tasked with protecting mining facilities from ravenous space bugs using some truly fearsome weaponry. And you’ll need as much strategy as firepower as you fend off wave after wave.

Each level in Savage Moon is set on an “Imoon”, or a living asteroid, and it is up to you to keep the mining facilities safe. These Imoons are rich in mineral deposits that humanity needs to survive, but such riches come with great risk as the native creatures living there will stop at nothing to end the mining. These giant deadly creatures are called “Insectocytes.” They come in all shapes and sizes and you will need to have a balanced strategy to fend them all off and keep the mining facilities safe.

To defend the mines, you start off with machine gun towers and can expand your arsenal to include wide range of weaponry and heavy artillery. This is where your strategizing skills come into play. It’s up to you when to upgrade, add new towers, or save your money, and your strategies will make the difference between escaping unscathed and watching the mines go up in flames. You have to place the tower defenses in areas where they will be most effective in killing the different kinds of Insectocytes before they make it to the mining facilities. And as you kill the Insectocytes, you earn valuable points that you can use to upgrade the size and firepower of your defenses, and to develop new weapons and technologies.

Savage Moon is addictive and the action is relentless, making it fun no matter what your skill level is. The action is intense, but you also have to think and have a solid strategy to survive. The best players can even post their scores to the online leader boards to see how they stack up.

There is much more to come on Savage Moon soon, so keep a lookout for news right here on PlayStation.Blog.

But being free, it's expensive for Sony, and so the company is looking for devious ways of charging fans for content that they would otherwise get for free. I suspected this would happen with QORE, SCEA's online subscription 'magazine' and sure enough, here we have an exclusive demo of MotorStorm Pacific Rift opening up only to QORE subscribers a month early.

Find more playstation news and downloads on psreactor.net

The power jump between the 40GB Core and the 80GB Core is larger when playing games. This is likely an indication that it does include the new smaller die for the graphics chip, which would be most heavily stressed during game playing.

thanks couch21!

(SCEI) today announced that it would release the Wireless Keypad, a new peripheral for SIXAXIS™ and DUALSHOCK®3 wireless controllers for PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3®), this holiday season throughout the world. It will be introduced in North America in late November. It will be also introduced in Japan, Europe and Asia by the end of this year.

The highly anticipated Wireless Keypad is designed to fit precisely into the unique shape of SIXAXIS and DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controllers, and can be easily attached or removed. By using the product instead of the on-screen keyboard, users will be able to enjoy text chat communication more easily and comfortably in their hands, just as they would use familiar portable communication devices. It supports text chat in PlayStation®Home as well, and enables users to enjoy interactivity playing on-line titles and enjoying entertainment content more smoothly.

Equipped with Bluetooth® functionality, the Wireless Keypad can be paired to PS3 by simply connecting the keypad to the USB cable that comes bundled with the PS3 system. Also, two shortcut buttons, a Communication Button and a Message Box Button, are placed on the lower part of the Wireless Keypad, enabling users to jump to pre-set features on XMB™ (XrossMediaBar) such as “Friends” and “Message Box” during game play, which help PS3 users to smoothly communicate with each other. Additionally, a Touch Pad Button allows PS3 users to use the entire surface of the keypad as a touch pad, allowing them to easily maneuver the pointer while web browsing, simply by sliding their finger on the keypad surface.

More and more exclusive software titles that will support text chat feature are scheduled for release towards the end of the year including LittleBigPlanet™ (SCEI).

SCEI will vigorously promote various measures to introduce new entertainment world that can be further enriched through the network, including PlayStation Home.
