Here's a brief walkthrough of the PlayTV interface on the PlayStation 3. We'll start with the PlayTV Guide and work our way around. PlayTV will be priced around £80.

PlayTV Guide

The guide is received through the antenna
Shows basic information on the program

Title, Category, Synopsis, and Actors

Holds information for 7 days into the future

set up recording of an upcoming program during the week

Streams audio and video

PlayTV Library

Ability to record audio (mp3) or video (mpeg-2)

PS3 PlayTV PVR Hands On

Watch as the BBC gives a hands on demonstration PlayTV on the PS3 and the PSP. He goes through Live TV, Library, EPG (Electronic Programming Guide), and a quick look at PSP connectivity.

Here's a quick video explaining the PlayStation 3's PlayTV PVR for Europe. A simple 3 step process and your ready to watch, record, and PlayTV.

Connect Antenna to PlayTV unit.
Connect PlayTV unit to PS3 via USB.
Connect PS3 to your TV or HDTV.

The PlayTV unit has 2 tuners built-in, which allows to record a show while watching another at the same time. We wonder if it's able to record two shows at once.

The video also shows the connectivity between the PSP and PlayTV, which allows you to watch your PlayTV shows via wifi on your PSP from anywhere around the world similar to the SlingBox.

PlayTV Release Date and Price Announced

Play.com has priced PlayTV for the PlayStation 3 at £99.99 and is set to be released by the end of March in the UK. Here is their description.
