Rumour: No Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet until October?
Following a difficult, but by no means disastrous year for the PS3, Sony is turning its eye to the future. Although we’re just as sick as everyone else of looking forward to things and saying ‘seriously, that’s when the PS3 is going to rock’, 2008 does hold a lot of promise for current and potential PS3 owners. Threespeech has a little run down of what is happening and when, which reveals a surprisingly late arrival for a couple of big projects. Killzone 2 and LittleBigPlanet are each only due somewhere between September and October.
Okay, Killzone isn’t much of a surprise. We’ve only seen a single trustworthy video and a handful of tarted up screenshots. It looks promising, but not like a project that’s less than 6 months away from completion. LittleBigPlanet on the other hand is a bit more of a shock.
The hype has been huge over the past 9 months or so and it has looked like it was getting close for about half that time. We were really hoping for a Q1-Q2 kind of release schedule. Obviously, having been burned by the likes Kane & Lynch: Dead in the water Men, we’re happier to accept a delay than a half-finished train wreck though. October does seem a long time away and I hope that isn’t indicative of more serious design problems in the highly original title.
